In his book, The Secret: Discover the Healing Power of Breath, Dr. Thomas Lee asserts that a number of modern diseases stem from poor breathing habits. Even when the physical illness is only temporary, a lack of proper breathing can result in a more serious condition that develops over time.
Conditions That Develop Over Lack Of Proper Breathing
These conditions include poor sleep, diabetes, allergies, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, acne, and the list goes on. As a matter of fact, some diseases are caused by bad breath. It’s widely accepted that all diseases are linked to breathing. This could be due to the fact that our entire metabolism relies on a healthy respiratory system to function properly.
Unfortunately, we often don’t pay attention to our breathing habits, especially when they aren’t good. Thus, when they do become unhealthy, it can lead to many diseases. There are a lot of reasons why poor breathing has been associated with illnesses.
What Poor Breathing Causes
Poor breathing is what causes an individual to breathe with their stomach, which carries excess gases and weight, which causes constipation and cause an individual to become overweight. This can also lead to heart disease and other heart ailments.
If an individual incorrectly, it will affect his or her body’s ability to utilize oxygen, thus causing the individual to feel extremely tired. When you’re tired, you can’t focus, concentrate, or work at all. Of course, this means that your productivity will be less. Breathing meditation is a good part of the cure for these problems.
While taking in deep, slow breaths can bring a lot of benefits, it also has to be done consistently. It’s important to hold these breaths for at least five minutes, as well as keep them through the entire day. It’s important to remember that breathing is not a medical problem. It is actually a means of getting rid of waste.
Thus, if you’re not breathing properly, you’re not getting rid of the wastes. Poor breathing is usually temporary. It’ll happen for a couple of days, maybe even a week or two. After a couple of days, you’ll notice that you can breathe normally again.
Different Method To Accomplish Poor Breathing
There are many different methods to accomplish this. Some individuals simply inhale through their nose and exhale through their mouths. Some take long, deep breaths that require three times as much oxygen as the average person breathes in an hour.
Those who do the breathing meditation with their eyes closed experience a decrease in their pulse rate, which causes a feeling of calmness. Of course, they still need to make sure they don’t wake up too early in the morning. Those who do it with the eyes closed will start to feel as though they’re drowning.
There are many other options to follow such a method. If the individual doesn’t know how to breathe properly, it’s easy to get distracted by the sight of a colorful flower or beautiful scenery. They can even get it down so that they feel comfortable. This isn’t really a new or “old wives’ tale.”
A lot of healing techniques are taught using the breath as the base of them. No matter what method or guide that is being used, it should include focusing on a sense of well-being and comfort to benefit the body. If a person truly wants to enjoy life to the fullest, these methods should be included in every routine. Relaxation is the answer to many health problems.
